Emmy Lou
Charlotte
Hey there!  I'm Charlotte and I'm a demure, zoftig, red & white  5-year-old Basset cutie!  I've only been
with GABR for a few weeks, but it's been great!  For the last year, my life has been a bit "ruff" but all
that is behind me.  I do a little shimmy when I walk, and stay right next to you.  I was never properly
house-trained, but am doing my best to learn as fast as I can.  I love to be with you all the time and
squeak and follow you when you leave the room.  I get lonely when you leave, so I need at least one
friend to keep me company.  My foster home has 3 other dogs and a basset that I already know!   I just
love it here.  I'm learning how to play again how to go up and down stairs.  I'm not fussy about my food,
but I don't like to eat alone.  I love everyone, especially little kids.  I wag my whole body and let you rub
my belly.  And if you like talking bassets, then I'm your gal!  I chortle and grunt and make all kinds of
noises.  My foster Mom thinks I'm a bit of a drama queen, but hey, it works for me!  I am generally pretty
low-maintenance.  I was recently diagnosed with glaucoma.  But is that going to get me down????  Heck
NO!!! I won't need much...only someone to love me as much a I love them, some eye drops and a few
extra trips to the vet for eye pressure readings and a warm lap to put my head.  I promise I will be as
silly as ever and I'll even let you rub my belly for hours.  It's SO soft!  I know there is my special
someone out there waiting for me.  Won't you scoop me up and make me your very own?   Just fill out
the
adoption application and I may be all yours.
How-dee!  My name is Emmy Lou (no relation to the famous singer).  I'm a 5-year-old sweet
lovin' Basset gal whose clothes have gotten a little bit baggy.  I am pretty new here at GABR
and am SO grateful to be here.  It has been a pretty rough year for me.  It is not in my nature to
speak unkindly about anyone, but I've been missing a lot of the basic things a hound needs to
be happy like love and playtime and walks.  My eyes may look sad, but I never am.  My tail is
always waggin' and I have a big smile and a hearty howl when you come home.  Just watch me
strut!  I love everyone I meet: babies, grown-ups and everyone in between.  I like other dogs
and never bother with cats or other critters.  I like power naps and nuzzling your ears.  I'm
relearning things like how to potty outside, how to walk better on a leash, mastering stairs, and
even how to play!  My foster family tells me how smart I am, so it won't take long.  I am not food
aggressive, and I eat whatever you give me.  I do have some skin allergies, so my budget would
include higher quality food, some medication and supplements and more frequent baths.  I have
the biggest heart overflowing with love, long ears and wet basset kisses to give to a very special
someone.  What are you waiting for???  I'm thinking about you every day; make my secret
dream come true.  Just fill out an
adoption application and I may be all yours.
Thelma
Hey everyone!  My name is Thelma.  No I don’t have a friend named Louise.  I’m looking for a new home.
Let me tell you a little about myself.  Someone listed me on Craigslist.  Do I look like some worn-out piece
of furniture or a used car?  Anyway someone bought me off Craigslist and took me home.  I didn’t like it so
I left.  Next time I need to remember to take an umbrella because it started raining.  I sought shelter in a
storm drain and kind of got myself stuck.  It’s embarrassing that the local fire department was needed to
get me out.  I told myself “Thelma you need to watch those milkbones.”  The people at the shelter made
me a little nervous when they said Guardian Angel was coming to get me.  Then I realize it was a basset
rescue.  Whew!  That was close!

I’m six years old and if I do say so myself I have lots of personality.  I haven’t met a stranger yet.  I make
myself at home where ever I am.  I get along with other dogs in my foster home.  If you ignore me, I will
bark when I need to go outside to potty.  I’m okay being in a crate.  I don’t mind hopping in a car for a
ride.  I’m going to chill out at my foster home for a little while until the right home comes along.  Give me a
call if you want to talk and why not fill out an
adoption application while you are thinking about it?.

Snooters,
Thelma

Hi, Joanie here with an update. I have been in my foster home for a week now. My foster Mom says that I am the best little girl. In
her heart, she wants to keep me for her very own, but in her head she knows if she does, she would have a hard time saving
other little girls and boys like me. Because of this, she is having a hard time writing my bio, so I am going to tell you a little
something about myself

I am a very pretty, petite little red and white, as you can tell by my pictures. I am a little over a year old, house trained, crate
trained. LOL (I have a secret If I cry just a little after all the other dogs go to bed foster Mom lets me back out for a little special
me time. She lets me fall a sleep on her bed and then Yes, Yes she does, she carries me back to my bed and I sleep all night. )
I love to cuddle and if all the boys in the house are by foster Mom, I just walk right through them and find my place, front and
center, yes I am a princess. I move them aside very nicely and knowing I am the princess, those boys don’t seem to mind at all.

I love to play with the little beagle boy who stays here on the week-ends, he is my favorite. I have a lab mix who keeps me
company and we like to run and run outside and I have even won the heart of the little basset mix who lives here. He is the king
of the house. We have two house cats here, one is old and I leave her be. The little young one is a boy and I think he is part dog
cause he likes to play with me and honest, he starts it every time. He hides under the kitchen table until I walk by, swats my tail
and then the chase is on, but we listen when foster Mom says stop.

I don’t counter surf or beg for food. I take my treats like the princess I am. Sometimes I bark, but not too much, usually just to say
Hi how you doing, I missed you glad your home. I do need a little help learning to walk with a leash. It’s not that I have to stop
and smell everything or that I try to chase rabbits . Honestly, I have to walk fast to keep up with the boys. They walk nose to the
ground full speed ahead. Wish I knew what they were looking for or should I say smelling?

Foster Mom says it is my sweet personality that has given me the ability to adapt so well and so fast. You can see why she
wants to keep me. I have to tell you I really like it here too, but I passed a lot of brothers and sisters in the shelter I was rescued
from and foster Mom is right, they need a chance too. So it is with joy and sadness that I write my bio for this great lady I call
Mom.

If you are looking for a very pretty, very sweet, cuddle, lovable, adaptable, great personality, well mannered princess, please take
a minute and fill out an
application.

Gilda
Gilda is a real low rider and only between 1-2 years of age  She is crate trained, house
trained (she needs a regular routine), and she is as sweet as she can be.  This little lady
loves everyone she meets.  She is great with other dogs and loves to play.  So if you are
looking for a loving gentle lap size  little girl here I am! Why not fill out an

Newton
Newton, who is about 5, was just welcomed into his foster home where he has three resident bassets to help
him forget the terrible days he spent before being rescued by  Guardian Angel.  What we do know about him
is that someone shot him in the hip and tossed him out of a pick-up truck like a piece of junk.  He was found
to be heart worm positive  and although he is a big and absolutely gorgeous boy, he is very thin.  In  spite of
all he suffered, and his surgery and treatments, he is recovering nicely, eating heartily,  and amazingly, has
a wonderful and very affectionate personality. He is not the least aggressive, is housebroken,  and does not
get into things. He is a living testimony to  the power of the spirit to prevail and give love.

Watch this space for more news as we learn more about his personality.  He will complete his  heart worm
treatment in early August and then be ready to go to a loving forever home that will make him feel whole and
accept and give back the love he so readily gives.  If you are interested in Newton, please don't hesitate to
fill out an
application now because although he won't be ready to be adopted until early August, you can
stake your claim to this fantastic basset now!  Hurry and do it now before you miss out on a real gem!!

Gretchen
Gretchen is an approximately 1 year old female, who was thrown from a car by her previous
owner.  She was taken to a shelter and they called Guardian Angel.  Gretchen is extremely
underweight, but her foster Mom is working very hard to fatten her up!!

Gretchen is house trained and has a very loving disposition.  She should go to a home with
older children only because she jumps on you when she gets excited.  Gretchen also
counter surfs, however her foster Mom is teaching her house manners so she can be a
proper young lady!!  Gretchen does great with other dogs and she loves to play!!  Please
remember she has quite a bit of energy, so she'll need to go to a family, who has others
dogs to play with OR go to a family who likes to go for walks during the day!

Gretchen, understandably so, is very scared of cars and does get car sick.  Her foster Mom
is working very hard to teach her that the vehicle is not the monster she thinks it is because
she was thrown from one!  Gretchen needs a family who will understand her fear and let her
know that she will never be harmed again!!  Is that your family?  If so, inquire about her
now!!
