AVAILABLE BASSET HOUNDS
Not every dog that is available for adoption will be featured on our website. Sometimes, we can match dogs to approved adopters very quickly, so those dogs will not be featured.
Daisy & Duck - The bonded pair of 8 year olds
-
Daisy & Duck
Daisy and Duck recently had an outing at a friend’s house. We thought it was time to update their story. We invited our friend Tiffini from City Dweller Photography to join us to capture their personalities.
-
Daisy & Duck
The basics that we want you to know: they are house-trained and crate-trained. They weigh in the low to mid 50s. They love their snacks. And like many bassets, they have these funny and quirky rituals. Plus, they love to be with their people and of course they like to snuggle! As a bonded pair, they do love to sleep next to each other, on top of each other and simply touching each other! And finally, they get along well with other dogs.
-
Daisy & Duck
They were excited when they entered the new backyard and instantly started exploring. They met new people with their basset-smiles. They met a new child and ran around the yard with her. They gently took treats from people they had only just met. Of course, they ran around the yard together (they are bonded). But, they explored the yard separately as they burned their outdoor energy.
-
Daisy
Daisy’s white nose and white eyes distinguishes her from Duck’s white stripe down his nose and his big floppy gray ears. Duck stands a little taller than Daisy. The pictures show so much about these lovable bassets. Their happy running, their floppy ears and polite posing (with just a little bit of coaching) are showcased in their new pictures.

Duck
Duck is unique in that he has a genetic condition; alopecia. But, amazingly, he has grown very fine fur on the areas of his body affected by this condition. So now, that bare-skin look on his back and sides is mostly gone.

Daisy & Duck
Daisy and Duck are looking for their Forever Home. They love the quiet moments, the shared spaces, the feeling of family and the outdoor time. Please consider this bonded pair if you are looking to add a basset to your family!
Honey
-
Honey
Honey is a beautiful 7-year-old red-and-white basset hound with the classic low-rider look everyone loves to go along with her long ears, soulful eyes, and about 57 pounds of pure sweetness. Before coming to rescue in March 2026, Honey spent her entire life as an outdoor “barn dog” until her owner sadly became too ill to care for her.
-
Honey
Despite such a big life change, Honey has adjusted remarkably well to indoor living and clearly loves being part of a family. She eats, drinks, and sleeps great, enjoys lounging with the resident basset hound, and especially loves being close to her people. In true basset fashion, she will happily follow you from room to room and often plants herself right at your feet just to make sure she doesn’t miss out on anything. Because of this, her future family will need to be mindful of her becoming a lovable little tripping hazard.
-
Honey
Honey is a gentle soul who rides beautifully in the car, enjoys looking out the window on adventures, and settles in nicely for naps along the way. She has also done well around cats and older children and has shown a calm, easy going temperament in the home.
She is still learning the ropes of indoor life, especially potty training. Since she lived outdoors her whole life, she’s currently about 70% house trained and continues to improve with routine and patience. She does best when let outside regularly and is very smart and eager to learn. -
Honey
Honey also has a little separation anxiety, which is understandable after losing the only home she ever knew. She may whine or bark for a bit when left alone, but she settles herself after some time and is otherwise a quiet girl. She sleeps in a crate at night and is doing well with structure and consistency.
-
Honey
One important thing to know about Honey is that she recently recovered from a burn injury. She has healed wonderfully, though she may always have a small patch on her left side where her fur does not fully grow back in. We think it just adds to her story and makes her even more special.
-
Honey
Honey is looking for a patient, loving home that understands rescue dogs sometimes need time to adjust. In return, she’ll give you loyal companionship, affection, and that unmistakable basset charm every single day.
Tina
-
Tina
Tina is a beautiful sable (red) and white year-old female Basset Hound. She has lovely tawny eyes that look like she is wearing eye liner and sassy freckles. Tina is a typical low-slung Basset with long, lovely ears. Her tail will be a happy tune on whatever surface gets in its way when she is getting pets, praise or treats!
Tina came to us from a low-cost veterinary clinic where she had a mammary tumor removed (she has recovered wonderfully). She was left there after the procedure. The clinic was kind enough to spay her before turning her over to GABR which usually prevents more mammary problems.
Tina has had all of her vetting and inoculations, so she is ready for her new forever home! Tina weighs about 45lbs-and is enthusiastically working on gaining a tad more weight. Tina is a typical low-slung Basset with long, lovely ears. She is currently doing very well adjusting to her new environment in her foster home that she shares with two female resident French Bulldogs.
-
Tina
This lovely Basset is eating well, sleeping well and completely housebroken! Tina walks well on a leash but may tug a tad to get to irresistible smells. Tina does get a bit nervous/restless in the car, so she should be secured with a harness and canine seatbelt. She needs a more positive auto experience such as trips to go to parks or for a pup cup. Tina has been sleeping through the night in a dog bed next to her foster mom’s bed. She feels most comfortable sleeping near her people.
Tina is a foodie! She is at the front of the line when chow is involved. She just needs to have boundaries set such as the sitting while in the kitchen waiting for food or treats. She would be fine with older children that can reinforce those boundaries. She should be fed separately and food bowls should all be picked up before allowing her back in kitchen. She has not shown any signs of food aggression with her foster family.
-
Tina
Tina is also at the front of the line for attention and pets. She is a bit of a diva and likes to have any toy that is in “play”. If sharing her home with another canine companion, she would do best with a submissive dog her size or larger, and one that is not possessive of toys. Tina is merciful with her plushie toys-they survive intact! Tina has tried to “air hump” one of the foster Frenchies and likes to smell other dogs and lean on them sometimes. She does respond to correction with a firm no and redirection.
Our girl would love to lay across your lap while you are relaxing, but if you move her and are consistent, she is quick to learn personal space. Miss Tina would thrive in a home with an assertive owner who will give her the structure she needs. She loves her walks, but will need a fenced in yard to keep her safe from following her nose wherever it goes.
Tina was left alone for long stretches at her previous home, so she does have some separation anxiety. She would do best if only left for shorter time periods. She is well behaved when left alone with the resident dogs, does not have accidents, and has not been destructive.
-
Tina
Tina would be fine with older children who are aware she is an opportunist with food. Tina likes to follow her nose to food, as does any Basset, so her new owner will need to set and maintain boundaries with her on food. She is doing fabulous with that in her foster home.
Please consider adding this smart, precious girl to your family!
