Sweet Bonnie, 9 years old, 60 pounds is back in rescue and in a foster home in Indiana, through no fault of her own.  Her new owner was allergic to her!

She is so friendly, happy and has a great personality.  She is housetrained and loves her daily walks.

Bonnie has allergies and occasionally sees a dermatologist.  She is on a special diet and is doing great.  She is allergic to cat dander among other things and is getting a shot twice a month to help with that.  She regularly gets a bath to help with yeast.

She’s is the first one in the human bed at night and loves to touch.  To know Bonnie is to love her!  She was our Waddle Queen of 2025!

Meet Duck 🦆 – The Low-Riding Lovebug with a Big Appetite and an Even Bigger Heart

Once upon a time, there was a long-eared gentleman named Duck. No one is quite sure how he got his name—maybe it’s the way he waddles when he’s excited, or maybe it’s because he happily “quacks” (okay, bays) when dinner is late. Either way, the name stuck… and so will he—right to your heart.

Duck is an 8 y/o classic basset boy: low to the ground, long in the ears, and rich in personality. His soulful eyes can convince you of almost anything—especially if you happen to be holding a snack. In fact, Duck firmly believes that food is one of life’s greatest love languages. Treats? Yes, please. Kibble? Absolutely. The crinkle of a chip bag from three rooms away? He’s already on his way.

But Duck isn’t just about snacks (though he’d prefer if you thought he was). He’s a professional snuggler, a couch connoisseur, and a champion napper. His favorite place to be is wherever his people are—preferably draped across a soft blanket, resting his velvety head on your lap like it was made just for that purpose.

Duck does have alopecia, which means he’s rocking a little less fur than your average hound. But he wears it well. His smooth, patchy coat just means more warm skin for cuddles and more personality shining through. He may need a little extra skin care and a cozy sweater when it’s chilly, but he doesn’t let it slow him down one bit. If anything, it makes him even more unique—like a limited-edition model with extra charm.

He gets along well with other dogs, appreciates a home where he can lounge in luxury, and will happily supervise your daily activities from the comfort of the couch. He’s sweet, gentle, food-motivated (did we mention that?), and endlessly loyal.

Duck isn’t looking for perfection. He’s looking for a family who sees his bald spots as beauty marks, who understands that snacks are sacred, and who will treasure a laid-back, loving hound who just wants to belong.

Eight year old Daisy is a simple soul with simple priorities: a full belly, a soft place to nap, and someone she can lean her long, velvety ears against. She doesn’t need excitement or fanfare. She just wants to be close — close enough to feel the warmth of her people and close enough to smell whatever delicious thing they might be snacking on.

When Daisy meets new folks, she doesn’t rush or bounce. Instead, she waddles over with quiet confidence, settles right against their legs, and looks up with those deep, thoughtful Basset eyes that seem to say, “I choose you. Also… do you have snacks?”
It’s her signature move, and it works every time.

Daisy dreams of a home where she can stay within a two‑foot radius of her humans at all times. If someone sits on the couch, she’ll be there, wedged between cushions like a sleepy loaf. If someone walks to the kitchen, she’ll follow with purpose — because you never know when a crumb might fall. If someone settles in for a nap, Daisy will already be curled up beside them, snoring softly before they even get comfortable.

She’ll be the gentle shadow padding behind every step, the warm weight pressed against legs during movie nights, the hopeful face appearing whenever a bag rustles. Daisy doesn’t just enjoy food — she celebrates it. Every meal is a grand event, every treat a moment of pure joy. More than anything, Daisy loves being close. She loves the quiet moments, the shared spaces, the feeling of belonging. And she’s ready to bring that soft, steady warmth to a family of her own.

Introducing Kal (short for Kaladin), a handsome 8 year old boy that came to GABR suffering from horrible and painful ear infections; but that is all behind him now (except for continued ear cleanings) and he is hoping to find his very own family to love.

Kal loves his foster family and follows them all around the house; he also really loves to play, hide his treasures and go for walks.  He is a sweet boy, but he does have some separation anxiety and he would do best in a home without small children, since sudden movements and being awaken by a touch can cause a reaction.

Although Kal has been the only dog in his foster home, he gets along with the dogs he meets on his walks and has been okish with the family cat.

It will take some time for Kal to adjust and trust his new family, but with lots of patience and understanding, Kal will relax and become the dog you always wanted.

You don’t think of big, bold looking dogs as being shy, but for most of
his life, Casper was kept in the house and mostly only socialized with
other dogs, so now, being the only dog in the house is a big change, and
he does like to find small spaces to tuck himself into so he is not
noticed so much.

He loves his walks, though being outside for long periods or going too
far from the house is still something he is getting used to.  He is
slowly learning to trust, and open up to more experiences with people,
and as he does so, his personality is beginning to emerge.   Calm and
gentle, he  would love a home with another basset to keep him company.
  His foster home has a cat, and he has adapted to that very well.

Because his exercise was limited in his first home, and his food was not
the best, he is is a bit overweight and is on a weight management food
to help him lose the weight.  He seems to be doing well on this food,
and between the food and the daily walks he is going to be trim in a few
short weeks.
