Coming from a life that showed him little kindness, this handsome 6 year old guy has definitely adjusted to home life with ease. House loves nothing more than to be near humans (and in typical basset fashion - their food!) and enjoy the scratches and pets that come with it. Emptying the toy box and carrying toys around the house is one of his avorite things - probably tied with finding the perfect napping spot.

Because of his prior life, he needs access to a crate - it is where he feels safest - just leave the door open and he will come and go as he pleases. He still has house manners to learn - but don't let that deter you from making space in your home for him.

House is super sweet and wants nothing more than to live in a warm house with his human for the rest of his days! House would do best in a home with older children and patient owners who are willing to put the time into continuing to teach him how to be a proper house doggy!

If only dogs could talk….that is probably what 5 year old Blue would tell you.  Used as a breeder dog and outside for most of his life, he has now discovered  the joy of human companionship and the comfort if a soft dog bed is something to be treasured.  He has also discovered the delight in having toys to play with and loves to carry them around with him.

He was always with other dogs, plays with  the 5 and 7 yr old dogs in his foster home, occasionally getting the “zoomies”  and tearing around the yard.  He likes to follow the 10 yr old basset around and he would do best in a home where he has another dog to give him confidence and companionship. 

Having lived outside, he is getting used to the idea of going outside to do his business, and getting better at it every day.  He panics a bit when his foster mom leaves without him, so ideally his adoptive home will have someone who is home most of the day.

Very sweet 6 month old that loves to play. He loves to wrestle, roll around and run with another basset (or dog).

But, he can sit next to you and get petted and brushed.  

He is a little shy when first meeting you, especially an older male. But, with just a tiny bit of patience, he becomes your best friend.

He is still learning his potty habits. He uses a potty pad (likely because his surrender owner had him inside for extended periods), but he is learning about going outside.

He is not food aggressive. He takes treats gently sitting right next to another basset.

He is a happy boy that is looking for his Forever Homee.

Biscuit is 4 y/o and wants to be loved and played with. He is a big clown that wants to be in the center of it all. He still has a puppiness about him and has missed a few classes at puppy school but that shouldn't deter anyone from wanting this cute big boy. He gets really excited to see you when you return home or just when you wake up every morning and will jump on you, so little people may not be a match for him . What he lacks in manners he makes up for in cuddles.
Biscuit loves belly rubs above all else and does know sit, lay and roll over.  It seems after roll over he gets stuck in that position until he eats a treat upside down or gets enough belly rubs. The couch is his go to for bedtime and when left alone. He seems to chill out pretty quickly and has done well even at the 8-10 hour mark at night.

He walks great on leash...a typical sniffer at the start and then will pick up the pace and walk along side. He is a bit of a people food hound and needs correction to back off. He has been caught trying to counter surf, but not as bad as most hounds. He chases the cat and barks at her, but with a tail wag.  He sees her as a playmate and she does not!

Biscuit has no food aggression and no reactions at all to what's going on around him. You can play with his feet, stick a finger in his ear, open his mouth and nothing has caused him to react at all. He's really is a good boy.  It wont take him any time at all to adjust to a new home.....maybe for CHRISTMAS!!

Lassie is a very sweet 6 month old. She is tiny at 27 lbs.  She loves to wrestle with another basset (or any dog) or simply run around the yard and play tag with people and dogs. She is full of life!

Lassie is not shy and loves to greet everyone. She takes treats eagerly and is not treat aggressive.  Her nose is very keen which can lead to a little mischief.

We are working on her potty habits, so she will need your help.

This sweet girl is ready to find a home filled with love, patience, and playtime.

Meet Neil, a 10 year old basset hound with an absolute sweet personality.

He enjoys being outdoors, loves going for walks and gets along well with his foster sibling who is a visla/bloodhound mix.

Completely house trained, he will stand by the door to let you know when he needs to go out.

Although he is a little skittish of sudden noises, he is very calm, rarely barks, and knows his meal times, morning and night, and will whine to let YOU know it is time!

He is not a picky eater, takes food from you very gently, and absolutely loves to be petted and loved on.

Introducing Kal (short for Kaladin), a handsome 8 year old boy that came to GABR suffering from horrible and painful ear infections; but that is all behind him now (except for continued ear cleanings) and he is hoping to find his very own family to love.

Kal loves his foster family and follows them all around the house; he also really loves to play, hide his treasures and go for walks.  He is a sweet boy, but he does have some separation anxiety and he would do best in a home without small children, since sudden movements and being awaken by a touch can cause a reaction.

Although Kal has been the only dog in his foster home, he gets along with the dogs he meets on his walks and has been okish with the family cat.

It will take some time for Kal to adjust and trust his new family, but with lots of patience and understanding, Kal will relax and become the dog you always wanted.
